Dear Members, Åland Friends and Visitors,

Finally!

On Saturday, June 27, at 2 p.m.
we will meet for the Åland Islands Emigrant Institute Society’s Annual Meeting 2020,
in the Gustaf Erikson Garden, Norra Esplanadgatan 5, Mariehamn.

This year there will be no program, no presentation, but coffee with something good, sweet and tasty
after the Annual Meeting.

Please consider it might be rainy, there might be a harsh wind or just hot weather, that you dress properly for the day.
Why not bring along an umbrella!

Hjördis M. Sundblom

The Åland Island born Hjördis M. Sundblom emigrated to America 17 years of age. She worked in private families among the high society. Later she studied and was offered a job in the Physical Department at St. Luke/Roosevelt Hospital in New York. Her America years offered many experiences and her book contains not only her personal memories but is also richly illustrated. Hjördis Sundblom’s long journey lasted 52 years. She returned to the Aland Islands in 1987.
